SONATA Event Identity Design by Shafiq Alam
SONATA is an event identity design in eight verses: deep crimson Didone type on near-black paired with staged photography of musicians and baroque props.
Shafiq Alam and Md Ferdous Rana structured the SONATA event identity design around a simple, high-contrast system: near-black (#0A0A0A) fields, deep crimson (#8B1A1A) condensed Didone letterforms scaled to 200–300pt, and cinematic staged photography. Each verse — titles such as “Verse 3 / Where Reverence Meets Revelation” — appears in 14pt italic crimson on full-bleed crimson divider panels, cutting the sequence with deliberate rhythm. The brandmark is a circular monogram: a hairline N bisecting a thin-stroke serif O, rendered in deep crimson against black. Props recur across verses: marble composer busts, hourglasses, roses, and baroque velvet chairs, staged with musicians playing cello, trumpet, harp, and flute.
Event Identity Design Built on Contrast and Restraint
This event identity design holds together by refusing to add. The palette stays at four tones — near-black, crimson, warm sand gold, and ivory — and the photography leans on symbolic objects rather than narrative action. The result reads as a coherent event identity design system, not a collection of layouts. See the full project by Shafiq Alam and Md Ferdous Rana on Behance.
