Packaging Design: HUA Tea Packaging by Vladyslava Kravchenko
HUA Tea packaging design by Vladyslava Kravchenko balances poetic storytelling with a refined calligraphic typography system and delicate loose-leaf teas.
Vladyslava Kravchenko designed the identity for HUA, a premium tea brand that invites users to pause, breathe, and embrace the art of slow living through mindful floral rituals. This packaging design system is built around delicate loose-leaf teas, aiming to transform the simple daily act of drinking tea into a deeply sensory experience. By combining ethically sourced ingredients with design aesthetics, the visual identity establishes a contemporary tea culture. The approach merges feeling, origin, and tactile craftsmanship into a slow, meaningful experience that extends far beyond the product itself.
HUA Tea Packaging Systems
At the foundation of this packaging design is a sophisticated typographic hierarchy. To convey a premium approach, the Meso font was selected as the primary structural element. Inspired by experimental serifs of the 1970s, Meso’s personality transitions from highly genteel in lighter weights to a more punchy and playful character in its heavier styles. This flexibility is paired harmoniously with Sloop Script, an elegant calligraphic typeface. The sweeping gestural strokes, swashes, and alternates of Sloop Script bring the typography to life, adding a crucial sense of fluidity and human touch that reflects the delicate botanical nature of the ingredients.
The design stands out in the wider landscape of packaging design by utilizing emotional naming for its product lines. The name HUA itself evokes the beautiful, transformative moment when high-quality loose tea leaves unfurl and bloom in hot water. Each blend is given a poetic title that sets a specific mood before the box is even opened. This deliberate integration of storytelling into the physical boxes and containers highlights a refined approach to luxury packaging. By treating every element—from the calligraphic labels to the tactile finishes—as part of a single artistic ecosystem, the identity proves how typographic discipline can make premium packaging feel both poetic and profoundly human.
